CHANGE is Permanent. We have been living in a society where MALE domination is predominant. It is not only in our country but also across the World. The indiscrimination starts from work where Male counterparts gets higher pay for the same job done by their FEMALE Counterpart. While this is with regards to work, we may see this existing in all the places.
Where does it begin?
Yes, it begins from our HOME!!
You may not agree to this or shocked to hear this but this is the reality. Have you not seen your mother working all through the day while dad is relaxing. Well, this may not be the case in all the household but in majority of the house.
There was a survey conducted by AC Nielsen across cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. This was done among Women who works outside and do the work in house as well or to put it forth simply – Working Women.
More than 2/3rd of women feel there exists inequality at home between Men and Women. Now this is a disturbing trend. We have seen inequality being reduced to greater extent and being in the 21st century, this statistics of almost 66% is staggering and not a convincing one. We should do something regarding this. While few would have helped their mom being a kid, when they grow up they should try to have the same tendency once grown up. What I refer to here is helping their spouse. Even if your better-half is unemployed, doesn’t mean that they need to be treated less fortunate because they are still performing their duty at home which is more valuable when you look at it in monetary terms but I feel that one should not see it in monetary terms but in terms of true love and affection.
The next statistics is even more disturbing. 76% of Indian men feel laundry is women’s job. Now, my question is, do we men, not dress up?In fact we dress up more than women at times but we still feel that this is women’s job. This is not acceptable. While unlike those days, we need not have to wash it with our hands.. We can use facilities like Dry Cleaners and we also have Washing Machine. Now I agree that you saying why not women then using the same facilities? This is applicable where this facility is not available. By getting your lady, the washing machine which is not going to pinch your hands much, you can give her a real peace of mind.
Another statistics shows that 85% of Indian Women feel that they have two jobs – one at work and another one at home. This is sad when your women is employed. While they are stressed at work, they feel it staggering to see the level of work at home. This can be avoided. All they need is a consoling word and at times, a helping hand. It would take a minimal time of yours but can make a real difference. Try it and feel the difference.
