When I got an invite to attend the pre-launch of Annalaya, a South Indian Restaurant in Jaganatthan Road,Nungambakkam very next to the Star Vijay Television, I started jumping with joy. After seeing them creating a rage in Twitter for their naming – Yes, the name was selected from few hundreds of entries the restaurant received through its user engagement activity on Twitter, I was sure that this event s going to be a grand one.
My heartfelt thanks to Mr Balaji Vijayaraghavan of Insigthz Media who was kind enough to send me an invitation which I had happily shared with Food Bloggers and was surprised to see good response even at short notice. Yes, we had some of the members from CBC which included Mr Jothi Vel Moorthi – Admin of CBC, Mr Karthik Pasupathy, MS Srilakshmi Indrasenan, Lakshmi etc to name a few. My friends Sathya Narayanan and Satheesh Kumar had also joined me. We also had Mr K S Rajasekar from Bharat Matrimony joining us and Shrinidhi who is a Travel and Food Blogger joined us.
We all assembled at 1PM and the event slowly began. To start with this is what we saw on our tables – Dishes of Paruppu Podi, Ghee, Gongura Chutney
We were served Grand Thali and when I say GRAND, it really is. To start with we were served with Boli and Masala Vada.
The taste was simply awesome and we knew that we are all set. I started with my famous Paruppu Podi rice.
The taste was so authentic and then I moved on to “More Kuzhambu”.
This one was also just like the one which is served at home. When I was done with rice and so as others, other items started coming. The first one was Rava Idli….
Then came Masala Dosa and this had a twist. Yes, the Masala was made of beetroot.
Then came other varieties of Dosa making me to wonder about the preparation, taste and uniqueness. You can see them here:
What was stunning was the side dishes that were served with Dosas. Take a look here:
Isn’t it mouth watering??
If you think these are so many, hold on your breath. Their menu card runs few pages and I am sure you will find it real difficult to select the ones you wish to eat since each and every dish is tempting. We were also served with few more desserts which included the likes of Ice Creams and Paneer Masala.
The mock-tail they served was too good. It is attractive too 🙂 I am sure you would not disagree when you look at this…
I have kept their Signature Sweet dish in the end because it is special. Yes. It is made of Black Rice and on the op of it, sprinkled with Gold Dust. Yes! You read it right. It is Gold Dust or Thanga Baspam. It goes well with ice-cream.
The restaurant is really good – be it with ambiance or attitude of the staffs. The taste of the food items are mind blowing. Go for it. You will surely like it.
