Being an Intern

Internship is not easy a you think but at the same time, it is not difficult as well either. All you need to now is the trick and trade in order to see yourself doing god in your first ever internship. Nowadays you can see this happening in various places and with various courses which starts from a basic B.A to Professional Courses like CA,CWA,CS etc.,

One of the main reason for asking a candidate to go through internship is to ensure that he or she gets to know about the practicality of the subject because till then they were exposed only to the theoretical knowledge but practical knowledge is what plays a vital role for any one in any field.

It also helps you to see yourself more matured and to face your theory exams with more confidence and when you pass out with flying colours from your college/university, you need not have to worried about the work environment which wouldn’t have been exposed to you by then since you had never worked anywhere before.

I had the opportunity of doing my internship when I did my B.A Corporate Secretaryship and though I thought why was it necessary, I only came to know later that it is very vital in getting to know the work culture which had helped me a lot in my future career. For the final year, we had one practical paper for which we need to work as an intern in an organisation for 2 months and do a project based on that. We had to search every nook and corner to get placed because those days – in early 2000’s companies were sceptical to hire the interns though we worked for free. Finally, with the help of a good friend cum class mate whose uncle was an auditor, we got to work in VSNL – Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd which was the sole provider of broad band internet . We got recommended by the AGM and hence no one had the guts to question us.

We worked for close to 2 months and we got to now as to how their billing system worked and how the reports were generated and most importantly we got to know about the work culture in an organisation. The company was later acquired by Tata Telecommunications. We were dearly missed by the employees when it was time for us to leave and they gave us a 5 star rating with god conduct certificate which had helped me in procuring 90% on that paper and when I got my first job in TCS, I could face it with great confidence and took it up instantly.

I’m sharing my first internship experience for the #MyInternTheory activity at BlogAdda in association with Intern Theory
